About Hypnosis

What is hypnosis?

It is difficult to describe the actual experience of being hypnotized; neither asleep nor awake, but often characterised by a tremendously pleasant state of relaxation and an altered state of consciousness. In this pleasant and relaxed state, individuals allow the desired, beneficial suggestions to be given directly to the unconscious mind. Thus, hypnosis is a natural and effective way of making contact with the inner (unconscious) self, a source of many of our problems as well as a tremendous reservoir of unrecognised potential strengths and knowledge, ie. the forgotten assets.

Hypnotherapy is the use of hypnosis for the treatment and relief of a variety of somatic and psychological symptoms ranging from anxiety, depression, lack of confidence, eczema and psoriasis , IBS, habits and addictions, of course it is a well known strategy for giving up smoking, weight control and eating dissorders.

In Hypnotherapy the patient and hypnotherapist are working together towards a common goal. This therapeutic partnership is the key to a successful outcome. Nobody can ever be hypnotised against their will and, even when hypnotised, people can still reject any of the suggestions given if they believe them to be inappropriate.

About Trance4mation

Personal transformation is what hypnotherapy is all about. Trance4mation is a concept as well as a foundation for hypnosis based directed and self-therapy.

The Trance4mation Programme comprises five distinct phases, leading the client through from problem evaluation to goal realisation. This programmwe can be self-directed using tried and tested exercises and the application of simple to learn therapy techniques, or part of a managed therapeutic approach.

In most cases, George applies the prinicples of Trance4mation to the clinical, cognitive and behavioural hypnotherapy sessions for his clients. Because the programme is flexible, it can be tailored specifically to each individual, which means you only have the sessions you need.

About Meditation

What about Meditation?

Hypnotherapy isn't for everyone. However, there are many parallels between hypnosis and meditation that mean that the benefits are very similar. Meditation techniques promote relaxation and mental well-being, and form a significant aspect of 'mindfulness therapy'.Meditation classes are an excellent way for beginners to learn how to develop, or for the more experienced to maintain, their meditative practice. Regular meditation has been shown to produce improved concentration and memory, reductions in stress and related anxiety; reduced reliance on other coping strategies which may become problems such as alcohol, shopping, gambling, high risk sports and activities etc. Added to this are the health benefits of improved sleeping, reduced blood pressure and improved immune system performance.

A recent study in America claimed to link regular meditation practice with significant immune system benefits. Even considering the inadequacy of the data, Dr Adrian White of the University of Exeter agreed that meditatin appears to have some effect.

I teach meditation skills to individuals and groups, both in the consulting room and in the comfort of their own homes. An evenings meditation with friends makes a great alternative to a product based party. For more information, call George on 07732 773 833.

The Law of Reversed Effect says...

It applies equally to therapists as well as to their patients.

'The harder you try, the more difficult things become.'

There seems to be some doubt as to the exact number of laws of suggestion. However, everyone is agreed that the Law of Reversed Effect along with The Law of Concentrated Attention have the biggest impact in maintaining dysfunction.
